Novel Quilters

on November 20, 2013 - 6:38am

The Novel Quilters not only love quilting, but reading - hence their name.  Did you know that November is the "write a novel in 30 days" month? Yes, I didn't either, but several of the women were in the midst of writing their 30 day novels. One woman comes from a long line of family quilters and her family has a quilting retreat yearly! She showed me some pix of the quilts created. An outstanding amount of talent in that family.

What fun.  It made me want to join the group because I love writing and reading, and I want to learn quilting. Energy, intelligence, humor and creativity are words that describe these women to a T!

The design above, "Wings," was submitted to the website Spoonflower so that I could get an idea of how it would look on fabric.  (In fact, I'm looking for all kinds of feedback on it so if you are so inclined, do please let me know what you think about it.)  I had just received the piece of fabric from Spoonflower and brought it to my talk for opinions, and they all loved it! One woman said that she could take it and incorporate it into a quilt pronto.  I am still tweaking it and I hope very much to get it with Robert Kaufman for one of their fabric lines. Experienced quilters, do please let me know what you think, and how it could be improved!

Happy quilting and hugs to all....
